Amerisleep Mattress Review: Breaking Down The Layers

Amerisleep’s AS3 mattress is made up of 3 layers. In total, the mattress is 12 inches thick. Let’s break down the layers:

Bio-Pur®

The topmost layer of the AS3 mattress is 3 inches of plant-based Bio-Pur® memory foam, which is designed to enhance support, responsiveness, and regulate temperature. Memory foams are notorious for their heat-retaining properties, but this material, Bio-Pur®, makes all the difference. It is designed to permit airflow and eliminate heat and moisture. Like other memory foams, it provides comfort as it contours closely to the body, but it bounces back faster than other memory foams.

Affinity Layer with HIVE® Technology

Underneath the Bio-Pur® layer is 2 inches of poly foam (Affinity layer) with HIVE® technology, which was known previously as SMT technology. HIVE® utilizes a 5-zoned support system which helps to provide both comfort and targeted support. The hexagonal cutouts are designed in such a way to give you support where you need it the most, like the head, shoulders, and back.

Bio-Core®

Acting as the base for the upper 2 layers is the 7-inch Bio-Core® foam. This layer is the perfect balance to the memory foam because it is made of high-density polyfoam, which provides a very firm and durable foundation.

Amerisleep AS3 Mattress Review: All in The Cover

The Amerisleep AS3 mattress is blanketed with a soft, breathable and durable cover. This cover is made by Celliant blend that also includes polyester and spandex. Celliant is a premium fabric that regulates temperature and gives a cool sleeping experience. With this, sleepers should be able to sleep comfortably throughout the night and wake up re-energized.

How Does It Perform

I think the layers that make up the mattress are very well-balanced. It was comfortable, and I didn’t feel stuck. I also like that although the memory foam contours your body, it still had enough support for your head, shoulders, and legs. I also liked that it was not too hot like you can expect from traditional memory foams. Overall the mattress delivers its promises. With that being said, for heavyweight sleepers, it may not offer enough support, and remember it only has one firmness level!

Amerisleep AS3 Mattress Review: The Final Verdict

As I mentioned before, I loved that Amerisleep’s AS3 doesn’t sleep hot and the cover helps to regulate temperature. I also like how this mattress is a good combination of support and comfort, which helped me sleep well through the night. Apart from being a bit pricier than its competitors, the Amerisleep AS3 is worth a try. As I mentioned before, if you’re a heavyweight sleeper, remember AS3 comes only medium level firmness and you may not find the support you need in this mattress. Yes, definitely! If you’ve heard of Casper, Amerisleep makes more premium mattresses than Casper by their cover and structure of their layers. Unless you’re very picky or you have special requests or needs from your mattress, you can get this mattress with ease.

Is Amerisleep better than Tempurpedic?

Hmm, it depends on your needs. If you want a high-density mattress that contours your body a lot and you sleep in the mattress, Tempurpedic is better for you. If you still want the contouring but with responsiveness (bouncy, buoyancy), and sleep on the mattress rather than in, then you’ll like the Amerisleep. Also there is at least a $2000 difference, which is up to your budget. If you’re heavyweight, Tempurpedic may sleep too hot for you by all the pressure on the foam, vs Amerisleep will be more like latex and sleep cooler.
