1. Twin Mattresses

Twin mattresses are great for smaller rooms. It’s actually the smallest size option available (aside from the crib size) so if you’re lacking in space, this is a great choice. The twin mattress measures 39″ X 75″. Do take note of the length since it could be a problem if you’re tall. Aside from being the smallest size, it’s also often the cheapest in the range. Consider getting a Twin XL option measures 39″ X 80″, if your desired mattress brand manufactures it.

Twin mattresses are popular with college students, teenagers and even kids. It’s made for single sleeping only.

2. Full Mattresses

Similar in length (75″) to the Twin, the full or double mattress measures 54″ X 75″. Again, the length might be too short for tall folks so make sure you’re comfortable with having a short bed. Otherwise, consider Full XL which measures 54″ X 80″. This can be enough for a single sleeper but if you’re smaller, it can fit at least two people.

Parents are turning this into a mattress option for teens and kids. But generally, anybody who’s below 5’5″ would fit easily into this mattress.

3. Queen Mattresses

The Queen size mattress is a favorite for many. It’s big but not too big and can easily accommodate two people at once. A Queen measures 60″ x 80″ wide and great for average to large-sized rooms. It’s often the mattress of choice for couples or for single users who like to lie sprawled across the bed.

4. King Mattresses

For couples that want to have personal space while lying on their bed, then this is the perfect choice. A king measures 76″ x 80″. This is about the same size you get when you push twin mattresses next to each other. The extra space you get is perfect if you have a child who wants to crawl into bed with you or even have a dog who just can’t sleep anywhere else.

5. California King Mattresses

Available for most consumers in the Western front of the country, the California King is a huge narrow mattress measuring 72″ x 84″. It’s a tad narrower than a King so might fit rooms that can’t fit the width of a King-sized mattress inside. This is also great for couples and single sleepers.

Now you have a pretty solid idea on which mattress you might need or would fit best inside your room. Make sure to check out the different mattress types as well.
